How ODIAN Prevents Garment Quality Issues Before Shipping from China

In international apparel sourcing, quality problems usually do not start at the final inspection stage.

Most issues begin much earlier.

They may come from unclear sample standards, rushed development, unchecked fabrics, unstable trims, incorrect measurements, or missing quality control during production. By the time all garments are finished, fixing these problems can be costly, time-consuming, and stressful for both the brand and the factory.

At ODIAN, we focus on prevention.

Our quality control is not only a final step before shipment. It starts from sample development and continues through fabric inspection, production, inline quality checks, final inspection, packaging, and export preparation.

Our goal is simple: to make sure your garments leave China with stable quality, clear standards, and fewer risks for your brand.

1. Quality Starts With the Approved Sample

Before cutting bulk fabric, we make sure the approved sample truly represents the final product.

For us, a sample is not only a visual reference. It is the main production standard for the whole order. Once the sample is approved, our production team, sewing operators, and QC staff follow the same reference to reduce misunderstandings and keep the bulk production consistent.

During the sampling stage, we check key details such as:

  • Fabric hand feel, weight, stretch, recovery, and color accuracy
  • Fit, measurements, grading, and key points of measure
  • Stitch type, seam strength, sewing quality, and finishing details
  • Washing results, including shrinkage, twisting, pilling risk, and after-wash appearance
  • Trims and accessories such as buttons, zippers, elastics, drawcords, labels, and tapes

Many production risks can be reduced when the sample stage is handled carefully. The clearer the sample standard, the more stable the bulk order will be.

2. Fabric and Trims Are Checked Before Cutting

Not every garment quality problem comes from sewing.

In many cases, the problem starts with the raw materials. If the fabric has color variation, holes, stains, weaving defects, printing issues, unstable stretch, or poor recovery, it will affect the final garment even if the sewing work is good.

That is why we inspect fabrics and trims before they enter production.

We mainly check:

  • Color consistency between dye lots and fabric rolls
  • Fabric defects such as holes, stains, yarn issues, stripes, weaving or knitting defects, and printing problems
  • Stretch and recovery performance for elastic fabrics
  • Function of zippers, buttons, snaps, drawcords, elastics, and other trims
  • Whether the fabric hand feel, thickness, and appearance match the approved sample

If any material does not meet the required standard, we hold it and communicate with the client before it affects the production line.

3. Inline Quality Control During Production

We do not wait until all garments are finished to start checking quality.

Final inspection is important, but it should not be the first time a factory finds problems. If issues such as wrong measurements, uneven stitching, poor seam alignment, incorrect print placement, or unstable sizing are found too late, the cost of rework can be high.

At ODIAN, our QC team follows the order during production.

Inline inspection focuses on:

  • Sewing accuracy and stitch consistency
  • Seam alignment and left-right symmetry
  • Measurement stability within the accepted tolerance
  • Consistency between different sewing lines and production bundles
  • Stripe, plaid, print, embroidery, or logo placement when required
  • Construction details that affect fit, comfort, and durability

This process helps us find and correct problems earlier, before small mistakes become large-scale production issues.

4. Final Inspection Before Packing and Shipment

Before garments are packed and shipped, we carry out a final inspection based on the approved sample, production requirements, and the client’s packing instructions.

This step is not just a routine check. It confirms whether the goods are ready for export and whether they meet the brand’s selling standards.

Our final inspection usually includes:

  • Finished garment measurements and size breakdown
  • Visual inspection for stains, holes, loose threads, needle marks, damage, color issues, and obvious defects
  • Main labels, care labels, size labels, hang tags, barcode stickers, and other branding details
  • Folding method, polybags, warning labels, stickers, and individual packing requirements
  • Carton marks, carton packing ratio, barcode information, sealing, and export carton standards
  • Quantity checking and consistency with the packing list

Only goods that meet the approved standards can be released for shipment.

For our clients, this means the garments are more likely to arrive ready for warehousing, distribution, or direct sale.

5. We Think From the Brand’s Point of View

At ODIAN, our job is not only to produce garments.

We also want to help protect our clients’ customer experience and brand reputation. A quality issue is not just a factory problem. For a fashion brand, it may lead to customer complaints, returns, delayed launches, or damage to brand trust.

That is why we try to identify risks early and communicate clearly.

When needed, we may suggest better solutions for:

  • Fabric selection
  • Sewing methods
  • Garment construction
  • Washing or finishing
  • Labeling and packaging
  • Production stability
  • Long-distance shipping and storage

For example, if a fabric may shrink easily, pill after washing, lose shape, or create difficulty in bulk production, we prefer to discuss it before production starts.

This is how we work with long-term clients.

We do not want to simply finish an order. We want to help brands receive garments that are stable, sellable, and aligned with their expectations.
